RSAF and DSTA Complete Technical Evaluation of F-16 Replacement

Image
18 Januari 2019 RSAF should purchase a small number of F-35 JSF for a full evaluation (photo : Medium) The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) have completed their technical evaluation to select the next generation fighter to replace its F-16s. The F-16s will have to retire soon after 2030 and the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) has been identified as the most suitable replacement to maintain the RSAF's capabilities. However, the technical evaluation also concluded that the RSAF should first purchase a small number of F-35 JSFs for a full evaluation of their capabilities and suitability before deciding on a full fleet. In the next phase, MINDEF will discuss details with relevant parties in the US before confirming its decision to acquire the F-35 JSFs for Singapore's defence capabilities. ( Sing Mindef )

Malaysia Shows Interest in India's Tejas Fighter Jets

Image
10 Januari 2019 Tejas will compete with JF-17 and F/A-50 for Light Combat Aircraft (photo : Rana) Malaysian interest in Tejas combat aircraft boosts HAL morale Much-maligned public sector aircraft maker Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has got a morale booster with Malaysia evincing interest in its light combat aircraft (LCA) Tejas. It is even more satisfying for HAL engineers, many of who went without salary on the New Year's Day, that the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) wants to evaluate Tejas after extensive trials of JF-17 Thunder developed by China and built in Pakistan. Malaysia wants India to send a Tejas fighter to the March 26-30 Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2019 (LIMA'19) for evaluation, Business Standard website has said. Apparently, the Malaysian defence minister is keen on trying out the Tejas. Indian sources believe the South East Asian nation is thinking of adding 30 Tejas to its air force. Designed and developed jointly by Aerona...

F-16 Block 70/72 Viper, Jet Tempur Incaran Indonesia Berteknologi Canggih

Image
05 Januari 2019 F-16 Block 70/72 Viper untuk Indonesia (image : Lockheed Martin) TRIBUNNEWS.COM - Akuisisi Sukhoi Su-35 Super Flanker TNI AU sebanyak 11 unit sedang berjalan. Walau kabar terakhir pengadaan Su-35 agak 'belibet', nampaknya pengadaan jet tempur superioritas udara itu tetap jalan. Su-35 diproyeksikan jadi Heavy Fighter alias penempur kelas berat TNI AU, jikalau kelas Medium Fighter maka pilihannya beda lagi. Contohnya penggunaan radar Northrop Grumman...

Indonesia Resumes Payment for Fighter Development Project

Image
04 Januari 2019 KF-X fighter (photo : ARC Inc) SEOUL (Yonhap) -- Indonesia resumed its payment for South Korea's fighter development project last month after a yearlong delay, Korea Aerospace Industries Co. (KAI), the country's sole aircraft manufacturer, said Wednesday. Late last month, Indonesia's defense ministry paid 132 billion won under a 2016 contract to shoulder 20 percent of the development cost for the KF-X project worth 7.9 trillion won (US$7.05 billion) as part of the country's efforts to procure combat aircraft for its own Air Force. The Southeast Asian country had not made any payments since early 2017, triggering concerns that it could withdraw from the project. "Through the latest payment, we can dispel worries about Indonesia's potential exit from the project, and we expect the country to actively participate," KAI said in a press release. South Korea seeks to locally build the new fighter jet to replace its aging fleet of F-4 and F-5 figh...

Several Japanese officials have revealed that discussions are underway for what would be the nation's first sale of used defense equipment to the U.S. Tokyo sounded out Washington on the possibility of such a sale as part of negotiations to purchase 105 F-35 jets from the U.S. The two sides are trying to iron out such details as the number of F-15s to be sold and their prices. By arranging such a sale with Washington, Tokyo hopes to quell public criticism of expanding defense spending amid efforts for fiscal consolidation. Turning to Washington would also help Japan, as it lacks experience in selling defense equipm...
